ADALAE ASHLINN PARKES
The girl who is rude to nearly everyone.
The girl who is sassy and sarcastic practically 24/7.
The girl whose life just got a lot more complicated.

Adalae never had much of a problem keeping her head high after her mother died, letting most of the world see the newer side of her - the sassy, sarcastic, rude, evil side, to put it ligthly. Only twin sister Annie and best friend Xavier knew the change, knew how different Addie was from her childhood self. And of course they both didn't like it, but fighting with Adalae was not an option. Not if Annie wanted to stay inside her twin sister's life. Not if Xavier wanted to stay Ada's other best friend. Becuase both knew that no matter what bonds they had with Adalae, that even if Annie was her twin sister and Xavier was the only other person she could talk to when she and Annie were fighting or whatever, she didn't like being ganged up on. And that would be exactly how Adalae would look at it.

Sure, she has...feelings for Xavier, but neither Xavier nor Annie knows it. And she doesn't plan on letting it out in the open anytime soon, not while Xavier's dating Jordan Uley. But jealousy is boiling inside the 'youngest' Parkes girl, and she doesn't know what to do about it. She feels a bit hurt by Xavier, but it really wasn't his fualt, he never knew. She definitely now dislikes Jordan, even though they'd been okay friends as kids. But still, she's keeping the jealousy and her true feelings for Xavier bottled up. And inside Adalae, that can be a very, very bad thing. But what can anyone do about it?

And then Adalae and Annie get into the biggest fight they've ever had. All over an IM chat between Annie and Joshua Davies. And both walk away from it in tears, furious. And Adalae feels betrayed by her sister, hurt and backstabbed. Hwo could she have not told her that? So she heads for the only shoulder she has to cry on while he dad isn't home - Xavier. But hse doesn't even make it when Annie calls her, hysterical, and Adalae knows it's not form their fight. No, Annie tells her that their father was in a car accident and didn't survive, or at least that's what Adalae pieced together through her sister's sobs. Addie calls Xavier - now she truly needed him. And then she heads for the hospital, on the verge of breaking down into hysterics and letting her entire persona melt away.

But she won't let herself do that. She can't. Not until she was with Annie, and Xavier and could cry on someone's shoulder and be comforted and cry for her father when she was in the hospital. And when she reaches the hospital, and breaks down in hysterics. Her parents are gone. The world took them both. All Adalae has left is Annie, Xavier, Noelle Newton, and one other best friend. And they all need each other, at least Adalae very well needs them. Her scorn for Jordan multiplies with the pain fo rher father's loss, and she couldn't be mroe joyous when she finds Jordan kissing a girl. Of course the two girls battle it out. A friend of Jordan's pulls them apart.

Adalae's ready to hide from the world, but it's when she's looking back on her fight with Annie that she realizes she needs to do the exact opposite. So she changes again, slowly putting down the walls she'd so carefully built ove rthe nine years since her mother had passed. She becomes the girl she always was - sweet, caring, nice. But she's still sassy, sarcastic, overprotective. And it's okay, because it isn't as bad. She finds a new hobby - dancing. sure, she liekd to dance, but she didn't do it much. She finds two new dance friends, who slowly but surely become best friends to her as well.

She finally tells Xavier her true feelings, refusing to hide much any longer. She can't stand not letting him know, not when she's becoming her old self, the Adalae that was a lot less secretive. She tells Annie that she'll stay out of her and Joshua's relationship as long as she tells her if anything happens. And she tells Jordan why she resents her so much. She hopes she made her parents proud with all her actions, but she feels better than she ever has in her life.

Adalae's becoming her child self again.

And it feels great.
