Sweet, but skeptical, Hannah Annelle Parkes never wanted love, and never needed it. But when Joshua starts to get through to her, everything turns upside down. Joshua makes her love him in the worst way - all starting out as a hate relationship that only focuses on sex, lies, and that four letter word that they are both too stubborn to admit to. It was unexpected, unwanted, but now Annie can't help but feel like something inside her needs it - needs that type of compassion and love, if you can call it that coming from Joshua. But, Annie isn't giving in without a fight - a fight that adds more and more to the sexual tension already between them. She resists it, and by doing so, it only causes them to get closer in the most unhealthy way. He makes her scream and thrash just at his name. His rude nature and weird power over her, even cause her to begin cussing, but only to him, and it is something she never did before. Although, Annie never loved before until he came along either - but neither of them will admit it, not now, and not anytime soon.
Annie doesn't know what to think - she is still afraid of getting hurt, and this relationship is like a poisonous remedy - it might save her, but not without a little hurt. Her insides turn, and her mind topples as she tries to figure out what to do. Everything she knows screams at her to stay away and stay out of love, but everything about the frustrating Joshua Davies pulls her into it. What will it be that Annie does? And how will this relationship work?
With the 'hatred' she feels for Joshua, she runs to her confidant and the only girl who would listen to her gripe about him for hours - Kaleigh. In fact, that is all how it starts - because sweet and innocent Annie comes to the rescue of her friend. She gets more than she bargains for that night, and what? Joshua.
During all of this, her best friend and 'protector', Conner, tries to keep Joshua and Annie apart. She assures him over and over that she is fine, but he doesn't believe it since he had heard of Joshua's reputation.
Can she manage to keep this toxic relationship she has with Joshua kept secret from her twin sister, Ada? If she doesn't Ada will sure want to do something about it - and what will Annie say? That she loves him? No, she would never admit it.
