Marcade is an awkward person. Period. Socially, physically, and every other way and -ly available. He just is. That's something he was guaranteed to live with for the rest of his life. Cade was used to being completely and utterly socially inept; he was used to bumping into walls and tripping over furniture because he just didn't know what to do with his body. He was thin and, considering his lack of work outs or even heading outside, not at all muscular.
And then one of his friends decided it needed to change. So she started forcing him to step outside; she made him go to the gym, lift weights, run at the beach. And of course, he was never very good at being obstinate, so he listened. And, as she says, "he's beginning to shape up nicely." But just because he has muscle now doesn't mean his any less awkward -- just that he's a more toned awkward boy. She has just redone his wardrobe and is now preparing to teach him how to behave less awkwardly in public. What can he do but shrug and nod along and just prepare for the ride?
But what if he has anther friend who protests the change, who wants him to stay the way he was -- who thinks he's just better off that way? What happens when the opposing forces clash and leave Cade stuck in the middle?
